Dopo gli studi di Pianoforte e Composizione al Conservatorio «Giuseppe Verdi» di Milano e al «Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique» di Parigi, dove ottiene il Premier Prix à l’unanimité du jury, si perfeziona con Olivier Messiaen, Franco Donatoni, György Ligeti, Iannis Xenakis e Witold Lutosławski. Nel 1981 ottiene il prestigioso «Fulbright Award», studia e insegna nella University of California a San Diego. Vincitore di concorsi nazionali e internazionali («Valentino Bucchi» di Roma, «Ennio Porrino» di Cagliari, «Ernest Bloch» di Lugano, «W. Serocki» di Varsavia), e più volte invitato ai «Ferienkurse für Neue Musik» di Darmstadt. Pubblica con le milanesi Sonzogno e Rugginenti, con la romana Edipan e con la francese Alphonse Leduc. Ha 12 cd monografici e antologici al suo attivo. Nel marzo 2003 è nominato “Fellow” dell’Italian Academy di New York e “Research Scientist” presso il Music Department della «Columbia University» a New York. Ha tenuto seminari presso la University of California, il Department of Graduate Studies della Columbia, la «Eastman School of Music» di Rochester, la «State University» di Buffalo, la Musikhochschule di Trossingen (Germania) e l’Università di Praga (Hamu). Nel 2008 consegue la vittoria, primo e unico italiano, al concorso internazionale «Witold Lutosławski» di Varsavia col suo Le retour d’Astrée per violino e pianoforte. Nel 2013 è il solo candidato italiano prescelto dalla SIMC per i New World Music Days di Vienna-Bratislava.

 

Carlo Alessandro Landini, a winner of numerous national and international competitions including the «Valentino Bucchi» competition in Rome, the «Ennio Porrino» competition in Cagliari, the «Franco Margola» in Brescia, and the «Ernest Bloch in Lugano», Mr. Landini is the only composer prize awarded in two consecutive editions (2002 and 2004) of the «K. Serocki» Competition (Warsaw). Mr. Landini was invited to take part in the renowned «Ferienkurse für Neue Musik» in Darmstadt in 1980, 1994, 1996, both as composer and lecturer. His scores are published by the Milan-based houses Sonzogno and Rugginenti, the Rome-based Edi-Pan, and the French music publisher Alphonse Leduc. In the spring of 2003, Mr. Landini was appointed Fellow of the «Italian Academy» of New York and Research Scientist at the Music Department of the «Columbia University» in New York. He has taught seminars at the University of California, at the Department of Graduate Studies of Columbia, at the «Eastman School of Music» in Rochester, at the «State University of New York» in Buffalo, at the «University of Maryland College Park» (Washington, D.C.), as well as the «Staatliche Musikhochschule» Trossingen (Germany). Mr. Landini has been Visiting Professor at the «University of Maryland» for the entire Fall Semester 2006. His works have been performed in concert halls and Festivals all over the world, as well as being broadcast extensively. In 2008 Mr. Landini won the First Prize in the prestigious International «Witold Lutosławski» competition in Warsaw with his acclaimed work «Le retour d’Astrée» for violin and piano. In 2013 he was designed to represent officially his country at the «World New Music Days» Festival (Wien-Bratislava), organized by the ISCM («International Society for Contemporary Music»), with the work «This heart thy center is, this flesh thy spheare», for clarinet and piano, prize-awarded at the VI «S. Prokof'ev» International Competition (Saint Petersburg, Russia) in April 2012.
